Endless Debt

Chapter 1606 - 109: The Road Ahead_2

Chapter 1606 - 109: The Road Ahead_2

At this moment, the Night Race could no longer stop the collision between the storm and the Angry Sea. If the storm was left to evolve further, it might completely break through the barrier of the Angry Sea and land in the Land of Eternal Night.By then, the power of the Song of Wind Fall, weakened layer by layer by the Angry Sea’s barrier, would be reduced to a tenth of its original strength. Yet, even this remnant of power would be enough to flatten all structures in the Land of Eternal Night and sweep away those inferior Night Race members.

"Forward! Forward!"

Holt stood at the bow of the ship, shouting loudly. Though his demeanor was forceful, there was unwavering solemnity in his eyes. Despite his seemingly excited expression, his heart was filled with vigilance and caution.

Faced with such a grand offensive, Holt knew he must confront the main force of the Rebellious Royal Court. It was likely that multiple Seekers of Glory would appear next, or even the legendary Night King himself.

What’s more unsettling for Holt was that this primary battlefield was in the Land of Eternal Night. No one knew what preparations the Rebellious Royal Court had made there. Once they entered, they would have no path of retreat.

A journey from which there was no return, yet an unavoidable journey. Only this way could Holt and the others help Bologue and his group divert the Regent King’s attention, giving them a chance to destroy the Dark Iron Curtain and purify the land.

"Bologue... Bologue..."

Holt quietly muttered Bologue’s name, gazing at that not-so-distant place behind him.

Beyond the storm and the Angry Sea, the sky was bright, without a cloud in sight. The sunlight was so brilliant, leaving just a touch of golden afterglow reflected in Holt’s eyes.

The operation began at dawn. Holt prayed that Bologue could stick to the plan and destroy the Dark Iron Curtain at noon precisely.

By then, the pure midday sun would scorch all wickedness, sparing none.

"To leave a lasting legacy."

Holt lowly repeated it again, then shouted hysterically.

"To leave a lasting legacy!"

Propelled by the storm, the ship sailed unstoppably into the Angry Sea. Be it fire rain from the sky or boulders, or even the wind-eroded birds’ self-destructive charges, all were purified within the storm guided by Fuen, making the path smooth and unimpeded.

...

Wei’Er stood atop a broken statue. Though the statue was fractured and only half remained, in this vast wasteland, it was the only elevated point... at least it was a good vantage point for a cat.

"It should be this direction, right?"

Wei’Er intensely sniffed the blood scent in the air. After a simple directional judgment, it leaped off the statue and traversed swiftly through the ravaged landscape.

The cities within the Land of Eternal Night weren’t far apart. If it weren’t for the fog and darkness enclosing them, you could see them from afar.

Serey had mentioned that these cities were originally distributed throughout the continent. After the Night Race’s defeat, Serey discovered this natural cage of Angry Sea. He spent a great expense covering the cities with curving force, then transferred them into the Angry Sea.

Such a large-scale territorial transfer sounded like a fantasy, yet to Wei’Er, it wasn’t impossible. After all, for many years, the Undying Club had used similar methods to relocate until recently settling somewhat in Oubos.

This meant the interior of the Angry Sea was originally just a turbulent ocean, with no land, until Serey used large-scale curving rituals to transfer those cities into the Angry Sea, forcibly piecing them together into a congested island.

The immense shadow of the Royal City gradually appeared before Wei’Er. Just one glance could convey its stringent defenses and intense bloodthirstiness, almost like facing a mountain of bodies and sea of blood.

Wei’Er moved briskly, as if it didn’t perceive this place as dangerous at all. It thought, being a cat shouldn’t make one so noticeable, right? Even if discovered, a few mews and acting cute might suffice.

Even if conflict broke out, Wei’Er wasn’t scared. Despite its harmless appearance, its combat skills were pretty strong. Although its own Alchemy Matrix was outdated and it couldn’t wear the so-called Immortal Armor as a cat, Wei’Er was still Undead, without any real impact.

As everyone remained on high alert, Wei’Er leisurely slipped inside as though it were shopping.

The ether’s glow gathered in the cat’s eyes. Cautious gazes fell from the city walls, but just before they observed Wei’Er, its figure blurred strangely, appearing like an illusion, unobservable.

Wei’Er slipped through the crevice of the city gate, muttering with confusion, "It’s much simpler than imagined. Where are the other guards?"

Even with more guards, they couldn’t stop Wei’Er, but Wei’Er was puzzled by the apparent lack of personnel, uncertain where they’d been deployed.

While Wei’Er observed with curiosity, it picked up the scent of strong, sinister power-infused blood and followed its trail to a familiar violent energy.

This wasn’t the first time Wei’Er had sensed such power. It had seen similar in Sai Zong previously. Wei’Er looked toward where this power originated, knowing it had found the location of the Butcher’s Pit.

When Wei’Er smoothly reached near the Butcher’s Pit, it saw nothing but blood and remains, as if someone had slaughtered an entire city. Bodies of different ages and genders piled haphazardly, blood soaking the stones, impervious to any amount of rinsing restoring their original color.

The blood pooled into streams, trickling down the stairs. Some Night Race members stooped to sip the blood, while Bloodthirsty ones feasted gleefully atop the corpse piles.

At the center of this horrific hell, a horrifying howl echoed, like whips slicing through the air at high speed, shattering bodies. Wei’Er knew this was York’s domain, the domain of the Original Sin Armament.

"So cruel..."

Wei’Er cautiously navigated the outskirts of the Butcher’s Pit, fully aware it had stepped into the core domain of the Rebellious Royal Court. Exposure meant swift assault.

Given its mission’s importance, Wei’Er couldn’t fall here. Cautiously, it reached a building beside the Butcher’s Pit, slowly releasing its ether in front of a door.

Injecting ether into the door inscribed intricate, elaborate patterns that would cause an ordinary person a headache upon seeing, yet Wei’Er had memorized them perfectly.

For most scholars, memorizing a complex Alchemy Matrix would be a pipe dream, but not for Wei’Er. It didn’t remember the Alchemy Matrix; it inscribed it into its mind.

In the Undying Club, every Undead carried specific responsibilities to contribute. If Serey worked as the bartender and personnel manager, and Bode as the housekeeper, then memorizing the Alchemy Matrix and inscribing it when needed was Wei’Er’s task.

Thinking this, Wei’Er temporarily slowed its engraving speed, pondering its role—perhaps a doorman?

Wei’Er didn’t hesitate long on this matter, simply quickened its engraving speed. The intricate Alchemy Matrix gradually engraved into the door, reflecting into the soul of matter, into the cold iron soul.

On the other side of the incomplete door, inside the Undying Club, Sai Zong sat high on his throne. Below him, the metallic clang echoed, blacksmiths hammering the red-hot metal. The awakened Undead sifted through Sai Zong’s weapon collection, selecting familiar weapons, armor, and gearing up as stern soldiers.

Bode stood beside Sai Zong, already clad in spiked armor, wielding an icy spear. It was ablaze with blue ghostly fire within its bony frame, its chilling killing intent steadily rising.

Sai Zong’s gaze traversed the ever-reviving Undead Legion and fixed on the ordinary door at the armory’s end. As time passed, it seemed an invisible chisel was tapping at the door, carving elaborate patterns upon its surface.

The armed Undead sat poised, along with Sai Zong, awaiting the Alchemy Matrix’s completion...

Awaiting the moment the door opens, for the demons to pour forth entirely.
